Country style, town service

A full bar, wherever the road ends

North Shore events tend to happen in beautiful places that are far from everything. That’s exactly when a prepared bar team pays off.

Think of a wedding on a private estate above Pupukea, a family lu’au at a beach house in Haleiwa, or a reunion weekend at a rental near Turtle Bay. Beautiful, and usually a long way from the nearest store. If the ice runs out at 8 PM, nobody is driving back to town for more.

So we plan the whole bar before we leave: staff, tools, coolers, ice, cups, mixers and garnish, all packed and counted for your guest list. You get one less thing to worry about on a day that already has plenty.

Planning notes

Before you book a North Shore bar

Kam Highway traffic

There’s basically one road in and out, and it backs up on busy weekends and big-surf days. We leave early, and bartenders arrive 60 to 90 minutes before service. Give your guests the same heads-up.

Rain plan

Winter brings more rain to the North Shore. If your event is outdoors, a 10 x 10 tent over the bar ($100) keeps service going through a passing shower.

Venue and rental rules

Estates, farms, resorts and rental homes all set their own rules on events, alcohol and outside vendors, and public beaches generally don’t allow alcohol. Confirm what your venue allows before you plan the bar.

Power and water

Some country venues have limited outlets, lighting or running water near the bar. Send us the layout ahead of time and we’ll plan around it.

How it works

Pack it once, pour all night

For a hosted bar, you bring the alcohol. We pour on your behalf. We’ll send a shopping list sized to your guest count, so you can stock up in town on the way out and skip the second trip.

Every booking includes bar tools, a 6-ft bar table with linen and your first cooler. For a remote venue, we suggest adding ice, cups, mixers and an extra cooler ($50) from our add-ons, so everything shows up together.

Planning a community event where guests pay for drinks? Guests buy their own drinks. For each cash bar we apply for a one-event special license from the Honolulu Liquor Commission in our name, so we need at least 8 weeks’ notice (approval is up to the commission).

North Shore bartending FAQs

Do you really come all the way to the North Shore?

Yes. We serve all of Oahu, from town to the North Shore, including Haleiwa, Waialua, Pupukea, Sunset Beach and the Turtle Bay area.

Is there a travel fee?

A travel fee may apply. We charge travel only for events more than about 10 miles from our central Honolulu starting point, and the calculator adds it automatically based on your event’s location.

How much ice will we need?

More than most people guess. We figure about one 40 lb bag per 25 guests, plus more for each hour and for cocktails, with a 4-bag minimum at $24 a bag. Far from a store, we’d rather bring too much than run out.

How early should we book a North Shore wedding?

We recommend 6 to 12 months ahead for weddings. A 30% deposit holds your date. See wedding bartending and pricing.
